Have you ever heard the word multi-passionate? Joe is our System Admin, with bachelor’s degree in Information technology, who has been always passionate about music and computers and successfully combines his two loves in his work.
So Joe, please let me briefly tell your story? You definitely have to be reasonably passionate about both music and computers to become a successful DJ and a System Admin at the same time?
I realized that DJing and industry I work in have a lot in common. The joy you receive after combining passion and technology is priceless in both of these professions.
Comparing my “daily job tasks” I could refer to DJing as DJs would do with their collections of songs and effects (often set up by other DJs and composers) – linking them into pieces of creative work that certainly provides a lot of fun to the audience when executed, but internally bringing even more fun to the author when upon producing the output.
I think that’s essentially why both “IT guys” and DJs are always so happy, continuously learning and improving their knowledge, song collections, and skills and effects every day.
How to have two successful careers at the same time? What is your secret?
That is not easy, nothing truly ever is, but passion helps you focus on the big picture.
What are your best technical or creative skills?
I have always been a creative thinker and am very good at coming up with new solutions to difficult problems. I work better hands-on, but also thoroughly enjoy discussing abstract ideas.
So Joe, it is possible to balance multiple careers at the same time? What is your message?
The answer is very simple – Passion. If you are passionate about only one thing – you do only that. Your whole life centers around that one thing. You can’t thrive without doing that.
But, if you’re equally passionate about hundred things, you do all those, not even realizing you’re doing so many things.
If you really want to do something, believe in it so strongly, so intensely, that you will transfer the energy within you to each and every particle of the universe; and then the whole universe will conspire to make it happen for you.
I am lucky to work in a company that supports my creativity and me like a whole person.
